What is Windmill?
Windmill is a suite of data acquisition software running under Microsoft Windows. It's modular, so you can choose the Windmill applications you need and expand your system later. With Windmill you can:
- Log data to disk at up to 200 samples per second
- Chart data in real time
- Display process mimics
- Save libraries of hardware set-up files
- Monitor alarms
- Collect data from and control over 100 analogue and digital channels (thermocouples, resistance temperature devices, strain gauges, pressure transducers, counters, relays, and so on)
Downloading the Demo
Select wmldemo.exe (593K) and save to disk. We'll gladly post the demo to you if you experience any problems.
Unpacking the Demo
Copy wmldemo.exe into its own folder, then run wmldemo.exe from Windows. This unpacks the software, and launches a presentation of Windmill. The presentation involves a series of explanatory notes, with a selection of Windmill 4.3 applications running one after the other. After the presentation you can experiment with the Windmill programs. The demo programs are identical to the real ones, but work with software generated signals rather than actual hardware signals.
Free Software Trial
You can download a free trial of the software from Windmill's web site. This fully functional software logs data from instruments connected to the PC over RS232, RS422, RS485, Modbus and TCP/IP (Ethernet and Internet).
